Thirty-five visionaries. That’s how many people united to build Masjid Agung Al-ikhlas. Their shared dream A grand mosque in Cipete. A place of worship and community. Masjid Agung Al-ikhlas wasn’t built overnight. It began in 1967. Residents from various housing complexes in Cipete envisioned a central mosque. A place for prayer and spreading Islam. Their dedication fueled their efforts. Door-to-door fundraising became a norm. They tirelessly sought donations. Their community rallied around this ambitious goal. Nine years later their dream took shape. Construction of Masjid Agung Al-ikhlas started in 1976. It was completed in 1979. Generous contributions from many people made it possible. Buya H Amirudin Siregar led this monumental project. He served as the head of the YMAI foundation. The foundation oversaw Masjid Agung Al-ikhlas construction. Masjid Agung Al-ikhlas stands proudly. It’s a large two-story building covering 4500 square meters. It can accommodate 1500 worshippers. The ground floor functions as an auditorium. It’s used for various community activities. The main prayer hall is on the second floor. There are spacious additional areas. They’re located on the south and east sides. These spaces also serve as community centers. Masjid Agung Al-ikhlas is more than just a mosque. It also houses educational facilities. Next to the main building is a school complex.
