Towering above the bustling Hilldrop Road, Beacon High stands as a testament to the enduring power of education in London. Beacon High is a secondary school, originally established in the heart of the Islington Borough in 1907. Throughout the years, the school has undergone a series of name changes, starting as Camden Secondary School for Boys, then morphing into Holloway County Grammar School, and finally to Holloway Comprehensive School. The school has been a beacon of learning, fostering a vibrant community for generations of young minds. In 2019, the school finally received its current name: Beacon High. In the school’s most recent Ofsted report, its leadership and management were described as Good. The school operates under a coeducational system, welcoming both boys and girls, aged 11 to 16. Although Beacon High doesn’t have its own sixth form, students who graduate are guaranteed a place at City and Islington College. Beacon High is a lively hub for students from the Tufnell Park area and is a proud member of the Islington Futures Federation of Community Schools.
