You’ll see a stunning glass “Waterdrop.” This architectural feature pays tribute to Orchard Road’s history as a fruit orchard in the 1830s. Water, essential for plant life, is symbolized in this striking design element. Outside, the colorful “Urban People” sculptures by Kurt Laurenz Metzler capture the energy of everyday life. The sculptures depict individuals going about their day, reflecting the bustling activity of ION Orchard and its surroundings. Another sculpture, “Nutmeg & Mace” by Kumari Nahappan, connects the present to the past. It’s a reminder of the area’s history as a spice garden. ION Orchard itself is designed with the lines and curves of fruits and nuts in mind. The futuristic facade of glass and metal enhances Orchard Road’s modern atmosphere. ION2, part of the ION Orchard complex, boasts the largest sheltered public square on Orchard Road. This space has hosted many exciting events, like a mermaid tank and a butterfly house. Inside ION Orchard, the atrium features a mesmerizing “Flowing Flip-dot Waterfall.” This artwork spans three levels and mimics the sparkle of sequins on a designer gown. Notice the country flags on the name tags of ION Orchard staff. These flags indicate the languages spoken by each employee. This thoughtful detail ensures visitors from around the world feel welcome and catered to. ION Orchard also stimulates all five senses. The mall has a signature scent, a blend of 20 natural herbs, fruits, and flowers. Even the restrooms at ION Orchard are unique. Terrariums in some of the restrooms purify the air.
