Amidst the rolling hills of Weingarten, a hidden gem awaits discovery: Oberer Vogelpark Weingarten. This catastrophic event could have marked the end, but the community rallied. The Vereinsheim, now leased as a restaurant called Chalet im Oberen Vogelpark, plays a vital role in the park’s survival. Oberer Vogelpark Weingarten showcases around 1200 animals representing about 25 species. The park’s main attractions are its aviaries, housing pheasants, parakeets, canaries, zebra finches, ducks, and other domestic fowl. A pond provides a home for wading birds. The rear of the park features enclosures with miniature goats, Cameroon sheep, and fallow deer. Oberer Vogelpark Weingarten embodies the spirit of the Rhine Valley. Numerous bird and small animal breeding clubs, formed in the early 20th century, often operate small animal parks. Oberer Vogelpark Weingarten stands as one of over 50 such parks in the region. A playground adds to the park’s family-friendly atmosphere. The park hosts at least one annual festival or bird show.
