It’s one of eight kelurahan that make up the larger Ciledug district. This area has seen significant changes over the years. Parung Serab’s story intertwines with the administrative history of Ciledug. Once a sprawling area of fourteen villages, Ciledug’s boundaries have shifted over time. Parung Serab itself emerged as a distinct kelurahan within Ciledug during the formation of the Tangerang Municipality in 1993. The establishment of the municipality marked a significant turning point. It transitioned from an administrative city to a self-governing entity. This change led to the formal recognition of Parung Serab as part of the newly formed municipality. While not directly involved in the armed conflicts following Indonesia’s independence in 1945, the nearby Ulujami area, then considered part of Ciledug, witnessed brief but impactful clashes.
