Deep in the heart of Nova Iguaçu, Morro da Bacia stands as a silent observer. It has witnessed the ebb and flow of life, the struggles and triumphs of its community. Morro da Bacia isn’t just a peak; it’s a stage upon which stories of resilience and conflict unfold. In December 2020, the tranquility of Morro da Bacia was threatened. Traffickers from the Morro do Castelar in Belford Roxo plotted an invasion. The residents of Morro da Bacia, however, were vigilant. Their whispered warnings reached the ears of the 20th BPM (Mesquita). A swift and decisive operation, supported by the 15th BPM (Duque de Caxias), thwarted the invasion. The crackle of gunfire echoed through the streets as barricades were dismantled. One arrest was made, a pistol seized, and a stolen car recovered. The residents’ bravery, coupled with the police’s rapid response, preserved the fragile peace of Morro da Bacia. More recently, in February 2023, another operation unfolded at Morro da Bacia. This time, five criminals were apprehended, and a minor was taken into custody. Three pistols and six communication radios were confiscated, along with a substantial quantity of narcotics. The fight for peace at Morro da Bacia is an ongoing narrative. A story of community, resilience, and the constant struggle against criminal elements.
