Masjid Al Ikhlash

Emerging from the heart of Jakarta’s Cipete neighborhood, Masjid Al Ikhlash stands as a testament to community spirit and devotion. In 1967, a vision sparked among residents of several housing complexes. They dreamt of a central mosque, a beacon of Islamic faith and learning. Names like PDK, Kehakiman, Sekneg, Panca Niaga, Perdatam, Indomarin, Hasta Griya, and BDN complexes echoed through the early discussions. These individuals, along with other local figures, embarked on a mission to establish a mosque that would serve as a hub for prayer and da’wah (Islamic outreach). Masjid Al Ikhlash’s story began with humble origins. Door-to-door fundraising, spearheaded by community members like H.D. Dachlan, demonstrated the collective determination. Prayers offered in rotating homes, as recalled by H.MA. Husein, fueled the desire for a dedicated space. Nine years later, this vision materialized into a small prayer house, or *mushola*. Between 1976 and 1979, this mushola transformed into the Masjid Al Ikhlash we see today. This growth was fueled by the generosity of donors, zakat payers, and the dedicated congregation, under the leadership of Buya H. Amirudin Siregar. The foundation of Masjid Al Ikhlash, Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas (YMAI), was formally established on April 11, 1967, with 35 founding members. Their names, etched in the foundation’s documents, bear witness to the mosque’s origins. Today, Masjid Al Ikhlash occupies a prominent space on Jl. Cipete 3, a two-story structure covering 4,500 square meters. The ground floor serves as a hall for community activities. Above, the main prayer hall accommodates up to 1,500 worshippers, extending gracefully to the south and east. Beyond its spiritual role, Masjid Al Ikhlash has fostered a vibrant educational ecosystem. Adjacent to the mosque stand the KB/TK Islam Al Ikhlas and the SD and SMP Islam Al Ikhlas schools. A cooperative store, Koperasi Syariah Ikhlas Sejahtera (Kopsyahira), further strengthens the community bond. Masjid Al Ikhlash stands not just as a place of worship, but as a testament to the power of community, perseverance, and faith. It reminds us that from humble beginnings, great things can blossom.
