Opened in 1993, Galerie Bert beckons us into the world of 20th-century art. Galerie Bert is located at 31 rue de Penthièvre in Paris’s elegant 8th arrondissement. This isn’t the gallery’s first home. It originally resided within the prestigious Louvre des Antiquaires before moving to its current, larger location. Imagine standing here, just steps from the famed Hotel Bristol and the intersection of Avenue Matignon and rue de Penthièvre. Inside Galerie Bert, a vibrant collection awaits, curated by Dominique Bert. He’s a member of the European Chamber of Art Experts. Bert’s passion lies in the intricate drawings of Jean Cocteau. He has dedicated much of his career to showcasing Cocteau’s works through numerous exhibitions. But Galerie Bert isn’t solely focused on Cocteau. The gallery showcases a diverse array of 20th-century paintings. Both figurative and abstract styles are represented. Artists like Atlan, César, Charchoune, Debré, Estève, Gilioli, Hartung, Lanskoy, Marfaing, Mathieu, Poliakoff, Schneider, and Vieira da Silva have all graced these walls. Dominique Bert himself is a regular participant in prestigious art salons like the Salon de Tuileries and Art-Élysées. His keen eye and expertise contribute to the gallery’s reputation as a purveyor of exceptional modern and contemporary art. Galerie Bert opens its doors Monday through Friday from 11 am to 7 pm. You can also visit on Saturdays from 2 pm to 6:30 pm.
