In 1950, it became one of Baylor University’s degree-granting schools. The first bachelor’s degrees were awarded in 1952. This made the school one of the earliest baccalaureate nursing programs in Texas.
In 1999, the school received a new name. It became the Louise Herrington School of Nursing. This was thanks to Louise Herrington Ornelas. She was a Baylor alumna who donated to the school.
