Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa stands as a beacon of faith. It is located in Buenos Aires’ Parque Chacabuco neighborhood. This church is more than just a building. It is a testament to the city’s religious and cultural heritage.

The church’s story began in November 1941. Since then it has been a place of pilgrimage. In 1980, it was declared a Diocesan Sanctuary. This was due to the large number of pilgrims visiting for the past 80 years.

Notice the church’s impressive facade. Two towers rise high, each adorned with a campanario. Six bells chime from above. Four clocks mark time for the city. A hexagonal cupola dominates the skyline. It stands over 40 meters tall. Four smaller towers surround it. Atop the basilica is a statue of the Virgin of the Miraculous Medal. It stretches over 5 meters high. It can be seen from different points in the city.

Step inside Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa. Prepare to be amazed by the artistry. The church boasts the most stained-glass windows in Buenos Aires. Approximately 150 windows display diverse religious motifs. The great Catalan artist Antonio Estruch created them in the 1940s. These windows depict the life and work of the Congregation of the Mission’s founders. They also show the apparitions of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.

The Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa offers more than just visual splendor. It is a place of active worship and community. The church opens its doors every day. You can visit from 8:00 to 12:00 and again from 16:00 to 20:00.

Various services are held here. Daily masses take place at 10:00 and 19:00. On Sundays, masses are at 8:30, 11:00, 17:30, and 19:00. Confessions, baptisms, marriages, and funerals are also performed.

Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Medalla Milagrosa is more than a historical landmark. It is a living, breathing center of faith. It is a place where the community gathers. The Virgin’s promise echoes. “Come to the foot of this altar… and graces will be granted to all who ask with confidence and fervor.”
