Hidden within Parc Blandan, the Mont Blandan Sculpture isn’t just a piece of art. It’s a playful nod to the mighty Mont Blanc, visible on clear days from Lyon. The Mont Blandan Sculpture, completed in 2019, isn’t a historical monument. It’s a modern creation born from a collaboration between architects and students from the nearby École de Condé. This collaboration was part of a larger project to develop creative urban furniture for the park. The sculpture sits at the boundary between art and micro-aménagement, a small-scale development meant to enhance the park experience. Its mountainous silhouette stands out against the horizon. Visitors can climb the sculpture for a unique view of the park, overlooking the skaters and athletes below the old ramparts. Its sloping sides also offer a comfortable place to rest, to read, or simply to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Parc Blandan. The Mont Blandan Sculpture is more than just a place to sit.
