Dykes-Bower added the baptistry, west porches, and rooms above. Interestingly, St. Mary’s Sanderstead lacks a traditional tower or spire, its tiled roofs supported by trusses resting on sturdy brick walls. St. Mary’s Sanderstead has a rich history within the Anglican denomination, under the patronage of the Bishop. It’s part of the Croydon Episcopal Area, specifically the Croydon South Deanery and Croydon Archdeaconry. This church is more than just stones and mortar.
