Founded in 1947, Sholem Aleichem College wasn’t always a day school. It began as a humble Sunday school, established by the Bundist movement, dedicated to keeping Yiddish language and culture alive for Jewish children in Australia. Imagine that, a school born from a Sunday school! It wasn’t until 1975 that it blossomed into the vibrant day school it is today, opening its doors to ten eager Prep students. Sholem Aleichem College prides itself on inclusivity, embracing Jewish festivals with joyous celebrations of traditions, music, and of course, food! The school is named after the famous Yiddish writer and humorist, Sholem Aleichem, known for his heartwarming stories that captured the essence of Jewish life in Eastern Europe.
