Ever wondered about the rise of a new television network in Mexico? Right here stands Imagen Televisión a testament to ambition and innovation.

Imagen Televisión didn’t appear overnight. Its story begins much earlier. In 2006 Grupo Empresarial Ángeles acquired XHRAE-TV channel 28 in Mexico City. This was a significant move. It laid the groundwork for what would become Imagen Televisión. The station was relaunched as cadenatres. It aimed to become Mexico’s third broadcast network. However it lacked wide reach.

Then came a pivotal moment. In 2014 the Federal Telecommunications Institute offered new national network concessions. Grupo Imagen competed fiercely. They won the bid paying 1.808 billion pesos. This was a huge investment. It signaled their serious intent to disrupt the established television duopoly.

Imagen Televisión wasn’t just about broadcasting. It involved significant infrastructure development. Ciudad Imagen Imagen City was built. This state-of-the-art facility in Mexico City’s Copilco neighborhood houses five entertainment studios a news studio and three radio studios.

The launch date was set for October 17 2016 at 8 pm. A new logo designed by Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv a renowned New York firm was unveiled. The name Imagen Televisión was chosen. It symbolized a forward-looking vision. It was a departure from the old cadenatres name.

The launch was historic. It marked the arrival of the first new national commercial network in Mexico since 1993. This was a major event for the Mexican media landscape.

Imagen Televisión’s programming is diverse. It features telenovelas newscasts morning shows sports programming and children’s shows. It has collaborated with production companies like Argos Comunicación and Estudios TeleMéxico. It even secured rights to broadcast Major League Baseball games.

The network’s rise hasn’t been without challenges. Meeting coverage obligations across Mexico presented difficulties. There were infrastructure hurdles and bureaucratic processes to overcome. Yet Imagen Televisión persevered. It continues to expand its reach and influence.

Today as you stand before Imagen Televisión’s building remember its remarkable journey. It’s a story of ambition innovation and the power of a bold vision. It’s a story of breaking the mold and reshaping the Mexican media scene. It’s a story that is still unfolding.
