What do heated bathroom floors, a gym, and a wine fridge have in common? They can all be found inside a repurposed church! You might not guess it by looking at it now, but Seminary Avenue Community Church hasn’t always been a luxurious home. It was originally built in 1896 as Trinity Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church. The congregation worshipped here for over a century.
In 2002, a developer named Alexander Pearsall saw an opportunity. He purchased the church, promising residents he wouldn’t alter its historic exterior. He transformed the church into five unique condos, known as Cathedral Place. Pearsall himself lived in the largest condo. Can you imagine having 22-foot-high ceilings and original arched windows?
The crown jewel of this condo is the former bell tower. It houses a functioning bronze bell, over 100 years old. Imagine working out in a gym perched high above the treetops! This unique condo, a harmonious blend of historic charm and modern amenities, was recently listed for sale. It sold for around $1.6 million. So the next time you think of a church, you might picture stained glass and pews, but remember Seminary Avenue Community Church.
