It has survived not one but two devastating fires and a tornado. Each time the building was reduced to ashes yet the spirit of Elim remained unbroken. Imagine the community’s despair after the 1903 fire. Their beautiful sanctuary with its gas lights and tin ceiling was gone. Yet they rebuilt. They constructed a magnificent red brick church in 1930.
