Before 2002 the mosque could hold about 300 people. It served the needs of office workers around Newton and Novena. Religious studies were held twice a week. A full-time imam led the five daily prayers.

In April 2002 the original mosque was demolished. It was rebuilt to meet the needs of a growing community. The new Masjid Abdul Hamid Kampung Pasiran reopened on October 24 2022. The reconstruction cost $2 million.

The upgraded mosque now has an air-conditioned prayer hall. It can accommodate 600 worshippers. This is double the capacity of the original building.
