The International Exchange Hall offers 100 private rooms. Foreign exchange students and Japanese students both live here. This setup promotes interaction. It also fosters mutual understanding.
However due to the novel coronavirus the number of foreign exchange students is very low. Normally about 50 students live here.

She chose the International Exchange Hall. She has had an interest in international exchange. She graduated from an international communication course in high school. To continue international exchange she felt living with international students was best.
Before the pandemic residents gathered in the lobby. They studied together. They played games. They enjoyed each other’s company. In the shared kitchen they cooked food from their home countries. This was a fun way to communicate and learn.
Life at the International Exchange Hall balances Japanese and English. Students from Asia often speak Japanese. Students from Europe often use English. This helps everyone improve their language skills. A French student might teach Japanese in English. In return they might learn French in English. They learn from each other. This expands their communication.
Students can stay connected even after going home. They foster friendships that last. They learn practical English skills.
Living in the International Exchange Hall requires awareness. The university has rules. Japanese students must explain these rules. They must ensure international students understand. Explanations are important. It is especially important during initial orientation. Japanese students choose simple words. They strive to communicate clearly.

Rokubako’s dream is to become a professional sports trainer. She wants to connect with foreigners without interpreters. She believes international exchange broadens perspectives. She wants to continue fostering international connections.
