Preston Hollow Elementary School is a public primary school. It serves the Preston Hollow area of North Dallas. Preston Hollow Elementary School is part of the Dallas Independent School District. The school teaches pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.

Let’s step back in time. In 1987 parents wanted a voluntary busing program. They wanted to attract racial and ethnic minorities to Preston Hollow Elementary School. During that same year, Preston Hollow Elementary School partnered with a school in N’Dimi Cameroon. It was through the Save the Children Foundation. Preston Hollow was the first Dallas school to create such a partnership.

Fast forward to 2006. Preston Hollow Elementary School faced a civil lawsuit. It was about how White students were grouped into classes. There were also allegations of Hispanic students being wrongly classified as English as a second language learners. The lawsuit brought attention to issues of race and equality in education. The court ruled against the school’s practices. The court stated the school attempted to keep white students together.

Despite the challenges, Preston Hollow Elementary School continued to serve its diverse student body. In 2013 the school was working to add an International Baccalaureate program.

Today Preston Hollow Elementary School has about 400 students. The school’s mascot is the patriot. Its colors are hunter green and white.

Preston Hollow Elementary School has a student-teacher ratio of 12:1. This is lower than the Texas state average. The school is located at 6423 Walnut Hill Lane.

Two notable alumni are Barbara and Jenna Bush. They are the twin daughters of U.S. President George W. Bush. Their mother Laura Bush served on Preston Hollow’s PTA. Barrett Brown a journalist also attended Preston Hollow Elementary School.

Preston Hollow Elementary School feeds into Benjamin Franklin Middle School. It ultimately feeds into Hillcrest High School.
