Built in 1903 by architects E A P Newcomb and C W Dickey the Alfred Hocking House stands as the sole remaining Queen Anne style structure in Makiki. These stones complemented by white latticework and awnings give the Alfred Hocking House its distinctive look. Rick Ralston restored it in the mid-1980s winning a prestigious restoration award. He modernized the house adding air conditioning and new plumbing. The seven-bedroom three-and-a-half-bathroom home boasts 6353 square feet of living space. It features a grand staircase high ceilings chandeliers hardwood floors Palladian windows claw-footed bathtubs and a unique fern grotto with a trickling stream.
