It’s a challenging climb that rewards adventurers with breathtaking vistas. Located within the Parque Natural Municipal da Prainha, Pedra dos Cabritos offers a glimpse into Rio de Janeiro’s wilder side. This park, established in 1999, protects diverse ecosystems, from rocky coasts to the Atlantic rainforest. The Pedra dos Cabritos trail is not for the faint of heart. It’s a steep, unofficial path. The climb is short but demanding, especially with the humidity and slippery rocks. The views from the summit are extraordinary. To the east, the majestic Tres Picos dominate the horizon. Looking north, the Fonsecas Mountains rise above Frades Valley. To the south, Mulher de Pedra Mountains add to the dramatic landscape. And to the west, the sprawling backcountry of Rio de Janeiro stretches as far as the eye can see. As we descend Pedra dos Cabritos, we carry with us a sense of accomplishment and awe.
