Fancy a round of golf? Here at RAC Woodcote Park Golf Club, the green stretches out before you. This isn’t just any golf course. It is a place steeped in history and refined leisure.
RAC Woodcote Park Golf Club is more than a sports facility. It is a part of the Royal Automobile Club. The club boasts a rich heritage and a commitment to excellence.
The estate itself spans 350 acres of Surrey countryside. It has two 18-hole downland golf courses. The course is part parkland and part downland. It measures 6,787 yards. This makes it one of the longer courses in the county. The course is reasonably flat. But, several long par fours and many bunkers create an enjoyable test of golf.
Beyond golf, Woodcote Park offers squash and tennis courts. There is a gym, a full-size indoor swimming pool, and treatment rooms. Three restaurants and bars cater to every taste. Accommodation is also available for those wishing to extend their stay.
The Club’s Motor House displays the Club’s heritage fleet. It hosts many events including Grand Prix screenings.
For families, the Walled Garden provides purpose-designed facilities for children. This includes an indoor children’s pool. A soft play facility and play areas cater to various ages.
But there is even more history here at RAC Woodcote Park Golf Club. The land has seen centuries of change. Originally, it was part of the Manor of Horton. In 1679, Elizabeth Evelyn built the main mansion house. Samuel Pepys mentioned the house in his diary. Later, Charles Calvert, 3rd Baron Baltimore, inherited Woodcote Park.
In 1913, the Royal Automobile Club purchased the estate. During the First World War, the War Office used Woodcote Park as a military training camp. Later, it became a military convalescent hospital. In 1934, a fire gutted the house. Fortunately, the outer pavilions remained intact. The house was restored in 1936. During the Second World War, it served as a training centre again.
Today, RAC Woodcote Park Golf Club offers a perfect location. Relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. The club is easily accessible from the M25 and Central London. Whether you are a golf enthusiast or simply seeking a tranquil retreat, RAC Woodcote Park Golf Club combines sport, leisure, and history. Enjoy your visit and perhaps a challenging round of golf.
