The imposing halls of Trade Fair Munich stand before you, a beacon of innovation and global connection. Messe München, as it’s known locally, has been hosting trade fairs since 1964. Originally situated in the heart of Munich, it moved to its current location in Riem in 1998. The Riem location boasts a staggering 180,000 square meters of exhibition space, and another 425,000 square meters of outdoor area – making Trade Fair Munich one of the largest exhibition centers in Germany.

The building itself is a marvel of modern architecture and sustainability. It’s one of the most energy-efficient trade fair complexes in the world. Trade Fair Munich features a sophisticated energy concept, including a vast Photovoltaic roof system, and is heated with renewable energy from a geothermal system. This commitment to sustainability earns it the title of “Energy-Efficient Company” from the TUV SUD, a renowned German certification body.

The Trade Fair Munich organizes about 40 fairs annually for diverse industries, including capital and consumer goods, as well as high-tech. The venue caters to conferences, meetings, and smaller events as well. Every three years, Trade Fair Munich hosts the bauma, the world’s largest construction machinery fair, with over 620,000 visitors in 2016. Other notable events include the f.re.e, the Heim + Handwerk, the International Crafts Fair, and automatica, the leading trade fair for automation and mechatronics.

But Trade Fair Munich’s legacy doesn’t stop there. In 1972, it played a vital role during the Summer Olympics. Trade Fair Munich housed five Olympic events, including fencing, judo, weightlifting, and wrestling.

Trade Fair Munich is more than just a building. It’s a vibrant hub where innovation thrives, commerce flourishes, and connections are forged. So step inside and discover the world of Trade Fair Munich.
