Reaching the summit of Puig des Revells, I want you to imagine something. Imagine standing here centuries ago. You are among the first to witness the sunrise paint the landscape.

Welcome to Puig des Revells. It is a peak standing 386 meters above sea level. It is part of the Serra de Son Marill. Its name might not echo through history books. Yet, its presence speaks volumes to those who seek a connection with nature.

Our hike began at the Cementerio de la Vileta. We followed a path winding through earth and stone. Mountain boots are better than sneakers for this trail. There are many routes up this mountain. It’s easy to get lost. We followed our guide’s directions. We went straight at every intersection until we reached a prominent pine tree. Then we took the left path.

About 100 meters ahead was an old stone trough. Next to it was a well. These likely served animals grazing here long ago. Sadly, the well is full of trash now.

From there, we ascended. The path narrowed. Water erosion had taken its toll. It felt more like a small stream than a path. After about 20 minutes, we reached a flat path. Here we could see some luxurious chalets in Son Vida.

At the next junction, we took the ascending path to the right. The path became rocky and steep. Soon, we had a small viewpoint offering a panorama of Palma. Even Cabrera Island was visible through the haze.

Five minutes more and we’re at the summit of Puig des Revells. The peak’s clearing is well-maintained. Strawberry trees grow everywhere. The sign marking the peak is protected by law. It’s a small reward for the effort.

The trail descends behind the height marker. We take the path to the right. It soon slopes downward. It is paved in sections due to the steepness. After a few minutes, we encountered a path to the right. Following this, we saw an old, ruined inn. Although fenced off, one can still see its state.

Retracing our steps, we continued along the main path. The path was tricky here. Erosion made it hard to find a firm footing. We took the leftmost path. This led to a small viewpoint with a stone bench. From there, electric towers rose.

We continued on the path to the right of the bench. This brought us back to the start of the hike. We saw the pine tree we noted earlier. From there, we returned to our starting point.

Puig des Revells, though modest in height, offers a rewarding journey. Its trails tell stories of those who came before. It is a quiet escape close to Palma.
