“Nineteen sixty-seven. A year etched in Beirut’s memory.” Today we find ourselves before Galerie Janine Rubeiz. It is more than just a gallery. It is a legacy born from a passion for Lebanese art.

Janine Rubeiz founded Dar El Fan in 1967. It was a multicultural platform. She ran it until her death in 1992. Her daughter Nadine Begdache established Galerie Janine Rubeiz in 1993. Nadine continued her mother’s work. She supported Lebanese modern and contemporary art.

The Galerie Janine Rubeiz has built an international network. Museums and private collections are part of it. The gallery participates in art fairs. These fairs are both regional and international.

The gallery also represents Lebanese modern and contemporary artists. These include Joseph Harb and Jamil Molaeb. Hanibal Srouj and Halim Jurdak are also represented.

Nadine recognized Huguette Caland’s work. She created a steadfast exhibition schedule. This enabled Huguette to thrive. In 1993 Nadine proposed a Beirut exhibition to Huguette. Huguette eagerly accepted. The 1994 “Faces and Places” exhibit captured hearts by 1997. This ignited a 25-year partnership.

For the Galerie Janine Rubeiz’s 30th anniversary, an exhibition celebrated the enduring collaboration. It also celebrated the friendship between Huguette Caland and Nadine Begdache. The exhibition highlighted pivotal moments in their journey.
