Water shortages plagued Musola al-Ikhlas. This small mosque, nestled in Menteng Dalam, Jakarta Selatan, faced a critical challenge. The water supply had ceased. Musola al-Ikhlas serves the community as both a place of worship and a vital educational center. Children, many from underprivileged families, rely on this mosque for religious instruction. The cost of drilling a new well was estimated at Rp 15 million, a significant sum for the modest community. Ustad Lukman Hakim, a teacher at Musola al-Ikhlas since 2021, emphasized the importance of the mosque. He stressed the need for a functioning water supply to maintain basic sanitation and support the children’s education. Despite the hardships, the dedicated staff, including Ustad Rahmat, Ustad Alfi, Adis, and a new volunteer, Ustad Alfi from Tasikmalaya, remained committed to their mission. Musola al-Ikhlas offers a comprehensive religious education. Children learn to read and write the Quran, practice Islamic rituals, recite prayers, and engage in dhikr. For the adults, the mosque hosts majelis taklim sessions. These sessions cover diverse topics, from classical Islamic texts to the life of Prophet Muhammad, basic Islamic jurisprudence, ethics, theology, and the Forty Hadith of Imam Nawawi. The community appealed to the public for assistance. Any contribution, however small, would help restore the vital water supply to Musola al-Ikhlas. This would ensure that the mosque could continue to serve as a center of spiritual and educational growth for the community. The Bintang Pancasila Foundation, headquartered in Cempaka Putih Barat, Jakarta Pusat, joined the appeal. They opened a dedicated bank account to receive donations for the mosque’s repairs. The community hoped that with public support, Musola al-Ikhlas would overcome this challenge and continue its important work.
