Meta Rödiger, his daughter, was the last of her line to live here. In 1978, she bequeathed the farm to the City of Bremen. Her will specified it was for the benefit of the community. It was intended to serve the needs of the Oberneuland district. Hinrich Kaemena played a key role in this generous donation. He was the head of the Oberneuland local authority.
Extensive renovations occurred between 1978 and 1983. The Stiftung Wohnliche Stadt provided considerable support. Some of the land became a public park. The farm transformed into a living museum. This was in collaboration with the Focke Museum. The Bremen Imkerverein added a teaching apiary. It offers regular tours.
In 1989, they built a bakehouse with a stone oven. The Meta-Rödiger-Hochtiedshuus was added in 2000. It serves as an official Bremen registry office. Since April 2001, couples have been marrying here. The entire park was renovated in 2008. A kitchen garden was also established.
The Senate established the Lür-Kropp-Stiftung in 2006. The foundation owns the land and assets. It preserves the agricultural heritage. It also hosts diverse cultural events at the Lür-Kropp-Hof.
