His passion became his profession, his life’s work dedicated to restoring and preserving the stories held within aged objects. Miguel, a master of his craft, passed his infectious enthusiasm down to his daughters, Maria José and Irene. Now they hold the reins of Can Llull. They strive to solidify the legacy of this family tradition. Nestled in the bustling center of Palma on 10, Rafael Rodríguez Méndez Street, Can Llull isn’t just a workshop, it’s a living museum. Within its walls, furniture, images, figures, fans, and carvings find renewed life. The work carried out here is an art form. It includes restoring furniture, from grand cabinets to delicate chairs. They repair broken parts, banish woodworm, and create intricate marquetry and inlay with wood, zinc, and brass. Wood carving is a specialty, with claw feet, finials, and ornaments taking shape under skilled hands. The rhythmic whir of wood turning brings keyholes, finials, and legs to life. Gilding and polychromy add a touch of brilliance, while the repair of old locks and the reproduction of antique keys unlock forgotten stories. Even brass and silver hardware are meticulously copied, ensuring every detail is preserved.
