Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Auckland, stands Al Hijaz Masjid. A beacon of faith and community, Al Hijaz Masjid’s story unfolds on Richardson Road in Mount Roskill. The Al Hijaz Trust, established over two decades ago, envisioned a space for New Zealand’s Muslims to connect with their spirituality. The Trust also aimed to foster social unity within the diverse community. Al Hijaz Masjid stands as a testament to this vision. The Masjid isn’t just a place for prayer. It’s a vibrant hub designed to serve the community in all aspects of life. Beyond the five daily prayers and weekly Jum’ah gatherings, Al Hijaz Masjid offers a structured program of Jumma lectures in English. These lectures, with annually announced topics, are also available online. The Masjid also hosts weekly Zikr Shareef gatherings on Thursday evenings. Al Hijaz Masjid recognizes the historical significance of masjids as pivotal community centers. It embraces this role by providing a space where individuals can seek support and personal development. The Masjid commemorates important Islamic occasions. This includes celebrations of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and ascension (Me’raaj). It also observes the Urs of Awliya and the martyrdom of Imam Hussain. Al Hijaz Masjid opens its doors to all, offering a space for prayer, learning, and community connection.
