Journey back with me to Paremuka Stream. This small, low-order stream flows through west Auckland. It heads in a northeasterly direction. The stream flows through a mainly urban area. Finally, Paremuka Stream discharges into Te Wai-o-Pareira, also known as Henderson Creek.
Here at Paremuka Lakeside, you can enjoy a walk around this restored lake. There is even a playground for the kids. Picnic tables and seating make it a great spot for a relaxing day out.
We are currently on the Paremuka Lakeside Path. It offers a quiet stroll around Paremuka Lakeside in Henderson. This path goes around the edge of two scenic stormwater ponds. The flat gravel and boardwalk path is suitable for prams and wheelchair users.
You can start at Hillwell Drive or from Charlenne Close. Be sure to check out the Eelman art feature in the lower lake.
From February to April 2025, the stormwater system at Paremuka Dam will be improved. It shouldn’t affect access to the path. However, keep an eye out for extra vehicles during this time.
The Paremuka Lakeside Path is 1.7 km long, which takes about 30 minutes to walk. If you start at 48-62 Hillwell Drive, you can easily get directions on Google Maps. The path has about 2210 steps.
Paremuka Lakeside also has a large off-leash dog exercise area. This is a dedicated dog exercise area. So, feel free to let your furry friends run free.
