Whispers of a cursed bistro haunt Rue de Bièvre. This Parisian street holds a dark tale. A tale woven into the very fabric of its history. It’s a story of a seemingly ordinary bistro. Number 1 bis Rue de Bièvre. A place of shadows and secrets.

Rue de Bièvre follows the ancient course of the Bièvre River. It’s a place steeped in history. The river itself is long gone. Yet its presence lingers in the street’s name. And in the chilling legend that clings to its past.

The story begins during World War II. A shabby bistro called “Père Hubert” stood at number 1 bis. Its reputation was less than savory. It was known for its clientele: drunkards and the downtrodden. One winter day the owner was found dead. A knife wound ended his life.

Soon after a vintner inherited the bistro. Valentin and his wife Paulette arrived in Paris full of hope. They tried to cleanse the bistro’s reputation. Their efforts proved futile. Paulette was lonely and bored. Valentin was quiet and distant.

One day Valentin found Paulette with a Romani man. He was reading tarot cards. Valentin was jealous. He threw the stranger out. He used his German Shepherd. The dog inexplicably died soon after.

The Romani man returned. Valentin threatened him. He even grabbed a knife. The Romani man uttered strange words. He pointed at the dog. Valentin became ill. A mysterious illness consumed him. He suffered intensely. He couldn’t get rid of the Romani man. The man kept coming back to read Paulette’s cards. Valentin died. His illness was undiagnosed.

One morning the bistro was deserted. Paulette had left with the Romani man. The building threatened to collapse. German authorities sent workers to demolish it. The workers soon developed a strange skin disease. Polish workers finally razed the building. Since then no one has dared to build there. The site remains overgrown with weeds. Rue de Bièvre keeps its secrets. The whispers persist. The legend lives on.
