Have you ever considered the humble beginnings of a bustling community hub? The Barangay Greenhills Multi-Purpose Hall, right here on Santolan Road, stands as a testament to the growth and evolution of Greenhills. It wasn’t always the modern six-story commercial building we see today. Originally, the barangay’s government offices were housed in the Annapolis Wilshire Plaza. This 26-story building, completed in 2013, served its purpose until the inauguration of this dedicated multi-purpose hall on April 24, 2022. The Barangay Greenhills Multi-Purpose Hall isn’t just a government building. It’s a symbol of the barangay’s commitment to its residents. It’s a place where community meetings take place, events are held, and local governance unfolds. This building, owned and operated by Barangay Greenhills, is a vital part of the community’s fabric. Before the high-rises and bustling commercial centers, Greenhills was part of the vast Hacienda de Mandaluyon, a sprawling estate owned by the Augustinian Order. The land was eventually sold, and Ortigas & Company began developing the area into the Greenhills we know today, complete with residential subdivisions and the iconic Greenhills Shopping Center. In 1972, amidst the tumultuous backdrop of Martial Law, the very idea of Barangay Greenhills took shape. Residents petitioned for its creation, carving it out from existing barrios like West Crame, Addition Hills, and Little Baguio. The San Juan Municipal Council approved, and Barangay Greenhills was officially born. Even the streets surrounding the Barangay Greenhills Multi-Purpose Hall tell a story. Santolan Road itself is a major artery, connecting the community to the wider city. Nearby, Ortigas Avenue bustles with activity.
