Established in 1942 the Städtisches Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium stands before you. Its history is woven into the very fabric of Munich. The school began as a Wirtschaftsaufbauschule focusing on economics. Sadly a bombing raid in 1944 severely damaged the original building. Classes were temporarily suspended.
The Städtisches Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium reopened its doors. In 1946 a significant change occurred. For the first time girls were allowed to attend. The school’s curriculum evolved. By 1956 its diploma was officially recognized for university entrance.
A pivotal moment arrived in 1963. The school was renamed the Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium. It was named after the renowned German economist Adolf Weber. The school moved to its current location on Kapschstraße in January 1965. This impressive building stands as a testament to its enduring legacy.
In the late 1970s a groundbreaking initiative was undertaken. Blind students were integrated into regular classes. This progressive step showcased the school’s commitment to inclusivity. Latin was also introduced as a second foreign language enriching the curriculum.
The Städtisches Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium continued to adapt and grow. In the early 2000s peer mediators were trained. This reflected a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive school environment. The school embraced technological advancements. In 2007 Wirtschaftsinformatik (business informatics) was added to the curriculum.
Today the Städtisches Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium thrives. It offers diverse programs including a shortened eight-year track. It also boasts a full-day class. It maintains a strong focus on the integration of visually impaired students. The school has three preparatory language classes to help foreign children learn German. The school actively participates in the GLOBE program. This global initiative focuses on environmental learning and observations.
The Städtisches Adolf-Weber-Gymnasium also fosters international connections. It participates in exchange programs with partner schools in China England France Italy South Africa and the USA. Its annual Christmas bazaar supports various global social projects. Since 2012 the school has actively participated in the “School against Racism” campaign.
