High atop Mollebakken stands Todbjerg Tower. A testament to Todbjerg’s spirit. This isn’t just any tower. It’s a beacon a symbol of this East Jutland village.

Todbjerg a village of 200 souls in 2019. Situated 15 kilometers north of Aarhus. It boasts a rich history. More than just a village though. Todbjerg is also a 103-meter-high hill. Imagine the views from the tower.

Once Todbjerg consisted of nine thriving farms. They formed a protective circle around the village. Inside this circle lived craftsmen. The blacksmith the wheelwright and others. Four of these farms remain. Two are still active today. The school stands near the church.

Todbjerg is a vibrant community. They celebrate Fastelavn. They hold Grundlovsfest at Todbjerg Tower. Sankthansfest is celebrated near the community hall. There’s a market and street football in August. And don’t forget the Christmas bingo in December. Community dinners are a regular occurrence. Every other year they put on a play at the community hall. Various clubs and guilds add to the lively atmosphere.

Todbjerg’s history is etched in stone. A Genforeningsanlæg a memorial to the 1920 reunification with Southern Jutland. A monument celebrating King Christian X’s 70th birthday in 1940. A stone marks the opening of the sports field in 1940. And finally a monument commemorates liberation after World War II. Each stone whispers a different story of Todbjerg.

The village’s history stretches far back. Long before the tower before the farms. Long before even the church. These are more than just buildings. They are the silent witnesses to Todbjerg’s journey through time. From a small collection of farms to the active community it is today. Todbjerg’s story is one of resilience. Of community. Of enduring spirit. A story etched in the land itself.
