Masjid Jamin Al-Ikhlas

On a quiet street in Cipete, the Masjid Jamin Al-Ikhlas stands as a testament to community spirit. Masjid Jamin Al-Ikhlas wasn’t always the grand structure you see today. It began in 1967 as a shared vision among residents of several housing complexes in Cipete. These included Komplek PDK, Komplek Kehakiman, Komplek Sekneg, Komplek Panca Niaga, Komplek Perdatam, Komplek Indomarin, Komplek Hasta Griya, and Komplek BDN. These individuals yearned for a central place of worship and a hub for Islamic teachings. They envisioned a mosque that would serve as a beacon of faith and community. Thirty-five dedicated individuals, including H.D. Dachlan and H.MA. Husein, spearheaded the initiative. They tirelessly went door-to-door, gathering support and donations. The idea for Masjid Jamin Al-Ikhlas blossomed during Ramadan prayers held rotating from house to house. Nine years later, their dream began to materialize. A small prayer room, or *mushola*, was built. This humble structure eventually evolved into the Masjid Jamin Al-Ikhlas, constructed between 1976 and 1979. The construction was made possible by the generous contributions of donors, *muzakki*, and the mosque community under the leadership of Buya H. Amirudin Siregar. He served as the Chairman of the YMAI (Yayasan Masjid Al-Ikhlas Foundation) from 1975 to 1987. The official founding of the YMAI is recorded as April 11, 1967. The names of the 35 founders are listed in the foundation’s official documents. Masjid Jamin Al-Ikhlas is now a spacious two-story building. It can accommodate up to 1,500 worshippers. The ground floor serves as a hall for community activities and educational programs. The main prayer hall is located on the second floor. It has additional wings on the south and east sides. The mosque complex also includes a school. The KB/TK Islam Al Ikhlas kindergarten and elementary school building is situated to the east. The SD and SMP Islam Al Ikhlas elementary and middle school building is on the west side. There’s even a cooperative store, Kopsyahira, providing groceries and school supplies. Masjid Jamin Al-Ikhlas continues to serve as a vibrant center for the community. It stands as a symbol of unity, perseverance, and the power of shared dreams.
