New Life Baptist Church, also known as Nueva Vida, is a bilingual congregation. It embraces both English and Spanish speakers. The church’s motto, “Love God, love others, reach the world,” encapsulates its mission. New Life Baptist Church strives to share the Gospel message. It aims to make a positive impact locally and globally. The church actively supports missions worldwide through the Cooperative Program. Pastor Nelson Fonseca leads the congregation. He took the helm after Pastor David Galvan retired. Galvan served the church faithfully for 40 years. Fonseca, originally from Nicaragua, joined New Life in 2006 while studying at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He brought a passion for evangelism. A unique aspect of New Life Baptist Church is its focus on small group gatherings. Throughout the week, instead of holding services at the church building, members meet in 47 growth groups across the Dallas area. These groups serve as the primary evangelism strategy. They create a welcoming environment for those who might feel intimidated by a traditional church setting. These groups cater to diverse demographics. There are groups for families, women, men, singles, children, and teenagers. New Life Baptist Church also emphasizes discipleship. New members start with the “New Life” program to understand the Gospel’s foundations. They then delve into Henry Blackaby’s “Experiencing God” to strengthen their spiritual disciplines. Finally, they participate in the “Growth Group Strategy,” the backbone of the church’s community. New Life Baptist Church extends its outreach beyond its walls. Their Vacation Bible School program takes place in parks, apartments, and homes. This allows them to connect with the community directly. A testament to their dedication is the 6 a.m. prayer meeting held daily for over 20 years. The church prays for the sick, the church itself, ministries, and missions. During the pandemic, this meeting transitioned to a phone call format. It attracted even more participants, highlighting the power of prayer and community.
