The Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence was developed as part of the Beam Reach area. This area is part of the Thames Gateway regeneration project. This project was a partnership between the London Development Agency and the Ford Motor Company.
Here at CEME Havering College and Barking and Dagenham College run courses. They operate under the name Thames Gateway College. CEME provides green technology retrofitting courses. The Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence site also includes conference meeting facilities. It can accommodate up to 300 people. Moreover, the development site houses 45 start-up companies.
CEME’s mission is to inspire inclusive business growth. They want to contribute to economic prosperity. CEME works with organizations like the Thames Estuary Growth Board. Additionally, the Hydrogen Route, running alongside the Thames Estuary, will create an infrastructure. This infrastructure will feed the need for hydrogen.
