Did you know this plaque commemorates the life and work of Zoltán Nuridsány? Right here, where the Nuridsány Zoltán Plaque stands, we honor a Hungarian-Armenian painter. He left a lasting mark on the art world.

Nuridsány was born in 1925. His birthplace was Târgu Mureș, Romania. His father was Armenian. His mother was Hungarian. He died in 1974 in Debrecen, Hungary.

During his school years, he joined the Fine Arts Circle of Nándor Nagy. People saw him as a promising talent. He even received a grant from the Hungarian Academy of Rome in 1948. His unique colors and forms gained attention from Italian magazines.

Back in Hungary, Nuridsány explored mural art. In 1949, his mosaic design was shown at the MEFESZ Exhibition. His talent was praised by Mariusz Rabinovszky and Lajos Fülep. He co-founded the “Quadriga” exhibition in 1949-1950.

His notable work includes “The Engineer”. It is a mosaic on the Engineering School’s wall in Székesfehérvár. Later, his design won two awards shortly before his death.

Nuridsány had a strong connection to Armenian culture. He visited Soviet Armenia in 1972. This was thanks to an invitation from the Armenian poet Sarmen. His Budapest apartment became a hub for Armenian artists and intellectuals.

In 1962, Nuridsány had an exhibition at the Fényes Adolf Gallery. His art career included a trip to Vietnam. He displayed his prints and aquarelles in an exhibition called Hanoi–Haiphong–Budapest.

His works are now part of the Hungarian National Gallery. You can find his art in other museums and private collections too. He painted in various artist colonies including Szentendre and Szigliget.

Even in his last years, Nuridsány remained active. He received his first passport to travel to the West, specifically France. There, he met fellow artists like Tibor Csernus and Judit Reigl.

Sadly, Zoltán Nuridsány passed away in 1974 in Debrecen. He was preparing for his next exhibition. The Nuridsány Zoltán Plaque serves as a reminder. It honors his contributions to Hungarian art. It celebrates his connection to Armenian culture. Take a moment to appreciate the legacy of this talented artist.
