“What responsibilities do young people bear towards their families, nation, and church?” This question echoes within the walls of Szent Gellért Katolikus Általános Iskola és Gimnázium. Founded in 1993 by the Krisztinavárosi Havas Boldogasszony Parish, Szent Gellért Katolikus Általános Iskola és Gimnázium started as an elementary school. It was housed in the Gellérthegy utca building.

In 1997, Szent Gellért Katolikus Általános Iskola és Gimnázium expanded to include a high school. This addition was reflected in its new name. The high school found its home at Krisztina tér 4. It occupied the former building of the Krisztina Téri Elementary School, established in 1787. Szent Gellért Katolikus Általános Iskola és Gimnázium now has one class per grade in elementary and two in high school.

Szent Gellért Katolikus Általános Iskola és Gimnázium underwent significant renovations. The work lasted a year and a half. The Kosciuszkó Tádé Street building and the gymnasium were modernized. A new three-story wing connected the two buildings. The basement of the main building now has classrooms, a gym, and changing rooms. A new warming kitchen and dining area were added. The electrical and mechanical systems were also updated. The schoolyard now boasts a sports-friendly surface.

Soltész Miklós emphasized the importance of church schools like Szent Gellért Katolikus Általános Iskola és Gimnázium. Nyáry Zsigmond, the school’s director, pledged to nurture responsible youth. These young people will be ready to take on responsibilities for their families, nation, and church. Mohos Gábor consecrated the building. He is the auxiliary bishop of Esztergom-Budapest.
