“What stories lie beneath these stones?” I ask. Welcome to the Cimetière de Trivaux in Meudon. It is a place of peace. It is also a place of history.

The Cimetière de Trivaux opened in 1922. The Cimetière des Longs Réages was full. This led to the creation of the Cimetière de Trivaux.

The Cimetière de Trivaux borders the Meudon forest. Its sloping grounds make it a unique landscape cemetery. The Cimetière de Trivaux is also home to Russian Orthodox graves. These graves bear names in Cyrillic. This reflects the presence of White Russian émigrés. They arrived after the 1917 Revolution.

The war memorial is in the form of a colonnade. It was erected in the 1920s. A military section overlooks it. This section contains 116 individual graves. These are for soldiers who died for France in the Great War. There are 46 graves from other wars as well.

Many notable people rest here at the Cimetière de Trivaux. Annik Beauchamps rests here. She was a comedian and radio host. Jules-Louis Breton is buried here. He created the medal of the French family. Marcel Carrère rests here. He was a divisional commissioner. Robert Charpentier is also buried here. He was a triple Olympic cycling champion.
