Ever wondered what happened to Acton Town Hall Library? It’s a question many locals and visitors have asked. Right here, in the Everyone Active Acton Centre on the High Street, you’ll find a temporary solution. Acton Town Hall Library, as we knew it, closed its doors in November 2024 for renovations. But the story doesn’t end there. A temporary library, nestled on the ground floor of this very leisure centre, has sprung to life. It offers a curated selection of popular books for all ages. You can still collect your reserved items here and access a few public computers. This temporary space ensures the community continues to have access to books and resources. The original Acton Town Hall Library occupied the first floor of the Acton Centre, accessible by lift. It offered a wide array of services beyond simply borrowing books. It was a community hub, a place to access free internet, and a starting point for young readers with the Bookstart program. You could borrow audiobooks, use photocopiers and printers, and even hire the learning centre. Self-service terminals graced both floors, facilitating book returns on the ground floor. While the temporary library provides essential services, it’s a glimpse into the past and a promise for the future. The full renovation of Acton Town Hall Library is expected to be completed by March 2025. We eagerly await its grand reopening and the return of its full range of services.
