Established in 1982 Beaconhills College Pakenham Campus has a rich history. A group of parishioners from St John’s Anglican Church in Upper Beaconsfield dreamt of a local Christian school. Their vision led to a public meeting in 1981. Around 250 people gathered at Pakenham Hall. They approved the plan for a co-educational low-fee school.

This wasn’t just a school. It was a community effort. A 13-acre site on Toomuc Valley Road was purchased. Portable classrooms arrived from St Catherine’s School in Toorak. Frank Millett became the founding principal. Beaconhills Christian College opened its doors on February 3 1982. Thirty-four students and five staff began the journey. A dedication service followed at St James Church.

Beaconhills College Pakenham Campus grew rapidly. By 1988 it had 388 students and 30 teachers. John McConchie chaired the board until 1986. He had led the initial steering committee. The college’s success wasn’t just academic. It fostered a strong sense of community and Christian values.

Today Beaconhills College Pakenham Campus thrives. The 18-hectare campus offers a wide range of facilities. It serves students from early learning to year 12.
