Szent Lukács Gyógyfürdő és Uszoda is one of Budapest’s oldest medicinal baths. Here at this very site in the 12th century, the Knights of Saint John cared for the sick. Later the Knights of Rhodes and Malta built a bath here. During the Turkish occupation, a Turkish bath was built using the same springs.

The modern Szent Lukács opened in 1884 after a complete renovation. It still preserves its century-old interior design. In 1999 the entire bath was renovated again. This included the indoor and outdoor pools. Today Szent Lukács provides all the services you would expect from a modern bath.

Szent Lukács Gyógyfürdő és Uszoda has been frequented by many actors poets and artists. Many of them have memorials here. István Örkény, Zoltán Kodály, Zoltán Latinovits and Dezső Garas were regulars.

The bath’s medicinal water comes from the Molnár János cave. It is six kilometers long and 30 meters deep. This mixed water has healing properties.
