Founded in 1941 Hakata Gakuen Hakata High School stands before you. Its history is rich. It began as Wakamatsu Bunka Joshi Gakko a girls’ school. The school’s name changed several times. It became Suehiro Jitsugyo Joshi Gakko then Fukuoka Bunka Joshi Gakko. Later it was Fukuoka Bunka Joshi Keiei Senmon Gakko. Finally in 1952 after educational reforms it opened as Hakata Bunka Gakuen Hakata High School a co-educational institution.
This remarkable institution has witnessed significant milestones. In 1962 Hakata High School opened a branch called Hakata High School Kousui Branch. Three years later the school became Hakata Girls High School. Then in 1965 Hakata Gakuen was established. Hakata Gakuen Hakata High School’s campus expanded rapidly. In 1966 the Hakata Elementary School was built. The Hakata East Elementary School followed in 1968. Hakata South Elementary School opened in 1975. Hakata First Elementary School opened in 1976. Hakata Central Elementary School was completed in 1979. Hakata Second Elementary School was built in 1992. Hakata Gakuen Hakata High School’s evolution continued. In 1993 it officially adopted its current name Hakata Gakuen Hakata High School.
The school’s growth wasn’t limited to its physical expansion. It evolved its curriculum too. Today Hakata Gakuen Hakata High School offers various specialized high school courses.
