During the Lebanese Civil War, from 1975 to 1990, St. Michel Church found itself on the front lines, a dividing line between warring factions. Sadly, modern stained-glass windows, lacking sacred imagery, have replaced the original ones. It’s a loss for the church, and a reminder of how easily beauty can be replaced with the mediocre.
