The mosque’s interior is a stunning display of Iznik tiles. These exquisite tiles were added during the 1500s. Later in the 1800s maiolica tiles were added to the existing collection. Originally the lower floor served as a kayıkhane. A boat house. However the filling in of the shoreline by the military. This caused the mosque to be moved further inland. The boat house was then incorporated into the structure as a prayer hall.

These include floral designs and naturalistic patterns. Blue and white tiles dominate. However red turquoise green and dark blue are also present. The tiles were made using the underglaze technique. Experts believe many of them are from Iznik and date to the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
