Envision the bustling heart of Dresden’s Neustadt. Right before you stands the Atrium am Rosengarten. This isn’t just another office building. It’s a modern structure with a unique history, deeply intertwined with the city’s vibrant tapestry. The Atrium am Rosengarten was built between 1995 and 1997. Its name, “Atrium in the Rose Garden,” reflects its proximity to the nearby Rosengarten, a beautiful landscaped garden. The building’s design comes from the renowned architect Stephan Braunfels. He also designed the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and the Paul-Löbe-Haus and Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, two parliamentary buildings in Berlin. The Atrium am Rosengarten houses a diverse mix of occupants. You’ll find government offices like the State Office for School and Education and the State Parents’ Council of Saxony. There’s also a Citizen’s Office and District Office for Neustadt, a neurological medical center, a dental clinic, and even a Park Inn Hotel. Interestingly, in 2024, the Atrium am Rosengarten expanded its role in education. The Saxon State Building and Property Management (SIB) signed a lease for 2,720 square meters of office space. This space was provided to the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Dresden (ehs). The ehs transformed this space into new offices and seminar rooms for their growing teaching and research operations in the field of nursing. They created a state-of-the-art simulation laboratory. This lab allows nursing students to practice real-life scenarios in a safe and controlled environment. The ehs occupies the first to third floors of the north wing of the Atrium am Rosengarten. This location offers convenient access to their main campus on Dürerstraße. The Atrium am Rosengarten isn’t just a building. It is a dynamic hub where government, business, healthcare, and education intersect. It contributes to the vibrant energy of Dresden’s Neustadt, a district known for its blend of historical charm and modern dynamism. As you stand before the Atrium am Rosengarten, take a moment to appreciate its unique architecture and its role in the ongoing story of Dresden.
