Her husband, Segundo Ruben Maza Jumbo, shared this devotion. The design took shape in the 1980s. Construction began in the 1990s. Families from across Ecuador, particularly Loja Province, contributed. Many had migrated to Quito for better opportunities. Their home province had suffered droughts, earthquakes, and food shortages. The community played a vital role in the Cimborio’s creation. Neighbors, devotees, and authorities all pitched in. The structure’s unique shape and design stand out.
