A challenging climb awaits you at Amelia Place Lookout. But the reward is spectacular. Amelia Place Lookout offers a truly breathtaking panorama. From this vantage point you can see far across eastern Auckland. On a clear day Rangitoto Island is visible. The Waitakere Ranges are also within sight. The path leading to Amelia Place Lookout is a bit of an adventure. It begins in Gracechurch Reserve and passes a reservoir. The initial ascent is steep. It is challenging particularly up the Watercare Reservoir driveway. However an easier path exists as you near the Trig Station. The Trig Station sits at the summit. It provides a welcome seating area. The entire walk is approximately 3km. Expect to walk for about 50 minutes. You’ll cover nearly 4000 steps. Little ones can manage the trek in a sturdy pushchair.
