In 1960, a unique fellowship began in the Tanjung Grogol area of Jakarta. Families gathered in homes, united by their Christian faith. This was the humble start of what would eventually become GPdI Bagian Barat Jemaat Yahya Bajem Annamartha. They later borrowed a classroom from the Sumbangsih Foundation and even used the Tanjung Grogol kindergarten. This interdenominational group eventually found a more permanent home. Admiral John Lie, later known as Jahya Daniel Dharma, offered his home at Jl. Dr. Semeru I No. 50 as a place of worship. This generous act solidified the growing congregation. By 1965, he officially gifted the property to the church. The building was dedicated on November 2, 1965, and the congregation was named GPIB Yahya in honor of Admiral Lie. This date is still celebrated as the birth of GPIB Yahya. Initially a branch of GPIB Betlehem, GPIB Yahya officially became its own entity on November 2, 1969. The church continued to flourish. Today, GPdI Bagian Barat Jemaat Yahya Bajem Annamartha stands as a testament to the dedication and faith of those early families in Tanjung Grogol. It continues to serve the community and beyond, with members even residing outside the immediate area. The Bajem Annamartha, located at Jl. Peternakan 3 No. 2 Kapuk, serves as an extension of this vibrant community. While the original church on Jl. Dr. Semeru I still holds services, Bajem Annamartha offers another location for worship and fellowship.
